The different metal types that are there for you to choose from come in a variety of prices. So first things first, make a budget because choosing the metal type for your loved one's engagement ring can be costly depending on the rarity of the metal type. We will be taking a look at the more common types like silver, gold, and platinum.

Silver, an inexpensive option.

Silver is the most affordable precious metal that you can choose, right now especially is at an extremely low price. Buying a sterling silver ring, can be the best option if you're running on a tight budget. Silver, when clean and polished, can have a great shine that she will love. Just make sure to buy some cleansing solution to maintain the polished shine as silver tarnishes.

Gold, yellow and white.

Gold is the most popular choice for an engagement ring, it is very versatile as you can choose the purity and you even have to options to choose from. Yellow gold is more widely available than white gold which makes it a bit cheaper in cost compared to the white version. Gold, in its pure state, does not tarnish at all. But when you buy a less pure version of it, say like 10k gold, tarnishing becomes a reality. Easy to fix though with a gold cleaning solution.

Platinum, precious and expensive.

Platinum is the rarest metal on earth's crust. This noble metal is non-corrosive and won't affect your skin in a negative way. It's rarity appeals to many people, and as you may have guessed rarity comes with a steep price tag. Platinum rings are the best against wear and tarnish so making an investment in platinum will pay off on its own!

So how to do I choose?

Well it all depends on two things your budget, and her preferences. If you know she likes yellow gold, get yellow gold. If she prefers platinum, don't hold back and try to fool her with silver, unless you have to :p. Make a decision by assessing if you can afford it, and if you can don't hold back, you must remember that the moment that you place that ring on her finger will never be forgotten.
